Tektronix THDP0400 400 MHz High Voltage Differential Probe

The Tektronix THDP0400 Active Differential Probe enables safe measurement of differential voltages up to ±2000 V. It is well suited for testing IGBT, SiC, and GaN power devices, as well as applications such as motor drives and power converters.

The probe provides up to 400 MHz bandwidth with selectable attenuation settings, enabling accurate measurement of fast-switching signals in medium- to high-voltage differential applications.

The THDP0400 includes a range of standard accessories to simplify connection to the device under test (DUT). Like all probes in the THDP series, it features the TekVPI® interface, allowing seamless connection to 4, 5, and 6 Series B MSO oscilloscopes for both manual and automated measurements.

Key Specifications:
  • 400 MHz bandwidth for high-speed signal measurements
  • Differential voltage range up to ±2 kV
  • Common-mode voltage up to ±2 kV
  • Selectable attenuation: 50X, 100X, 250X, 500X
  • DC gain accuracy: ±0.35% to ±0.7%
  • Switchable attenuation settings for measurement flexibility
  • Safety certified design
  • CAT Rating: 1000 V CAT III

Product characteristics:
  • Higher Bandwidth: Measure fast switching transients
  • Higher Diff Voltages: Measure large voltages using four different attenuation settings
  • Higher CM Voltages: Eliminate common-mode noise riding on the signals of interest
  • TekVPI: Control the probe settings from the scope. Automate the measurements

Key Benefits:
  1. A ±2000 V differential capability provides engineers with the confidence and headroom required to capture true operating behavior rather than idealized signals.
  2. Fast switching devices such as SiC and GaN introduce voltage slew rates that produce frequency content well into the 100s of MHz. Without at least 400 MHz of bandwidth, probes can mask critical overshoot and ringing, leading to under-designed systems and false confidence.
  3. TekVPI integration enables seamless configuration, consistent user experience, and lower support burden compared to third-party probes.

Key applications:
  • Floating measurements
  • Power Semi Si, SiC, GaN Validation and Characterization
  • Switching power supply design
  • Industrial and automotive motor drive designs
  • Power converter design and service
