The Antenna is compliant to the ATEX-Directive 94/9/EC and certificated for Zone 1, an area in which an explosive mixture is likely to occur in normal operation. The ATEX-Directive is an EU directive describing what equipment and work environment is allowed in an area with an explosive atmosphere.

Meinberg's explosion proof antenna consists of a passive antenna and a stainless steel housing including a 40dB amplifier. The stainless steel (AISI-316) housing which is resistant to many environmental impacts, such as sea salt, makes the antenna also suitable for use on offshore platforms.
