Introduction
Chroma AC Power Source 61600 series is a production grade AC/DC power source able to deliver precise, pure AC/DC waveforms by easily programming steps.

For function, the 61600 series generates a very clean AC output with typical distortion less than 0.3% at full load (50/60Hz, linear load). With the built-in power factor correction circuit (PFC), the 61600 series yields higher efficiency and delivers more output power. The power factor of its input can reach above 0.98 with full load.

Using advanced DSP technology, the 61600 series offers precision and high speed measurements such as RMS voltage, RMS current, true power, power factor, and current crest factor. Using the state-of-the-art PWM technology, it’s capable of delivering up to 4~6 times of peak current verses to its maximum rated current. Units also provide an external analog input to amplify the analog signal from arbitrary signal generator.

For high power applications, the 61600 series provides a (Master-Slave) parallel operation function, which enables the user to increase AC power output (maximum 90kVA) by connecting AC sources in parallel. The self-diagnosis routine and the full protections against OPP, OCP, OVP and OTP ensure the quality and reliability even in the most demanding engineering and ATE applications.

Comprehensive Measurements
Chroma AC Power Source 61600 series have built-in 16-bit measurement circuits and firmware utilities to measure the true RMS voltage, current, true power, apparent power, reactive power, power factor, current crest factor, repetitive peak current, and inrush current. Using advanced DSP technology, the 61600 series can measure THD and many orders of current harmonics. The LCD panel can also display voltage and current measurement waveforms via the Waveform Viewer function.

Slew Rate Setting for Voltage and Frequency
Chroma 61600 series allow users to set the slew rate of voltage and frequency. The program will follow the slew rate used to reach the final setting when the output voltage or frequency is changed. This function helps users verify the operating range of input power. For example, users can sweep frequency from 47Hz to 63Hz; or sweep voltage gradually from 90V to 264V instead of only measuring in steps such as 90V, 115V, 230V, and 264V. Additionally, in order to reduce the inrush current during motor startup or UUT power-up, users can decrease the slew rate setting to minimize peak current demands.

Single Phase and Three Phase Output
Model 61607/61608/61609 and 61611/61612 AC sources are capable of delivering single or three-phase output depending on the application. Users can select these output modes easily through the front panel or by remote control. All models are able to provide full power output without derating even in single phase output configuration.

Model 61601/61602/61603/61604/61605 AC source provide a 3-PHASE mode allowing users connect 3 units for 3-phase output application. The master unit will keep Fixed Mode on and send a signal for synchronizing slave units.

Master/Slave Parallel Output Function
Chroma 61600 series programmable AC source can provide more power by using the (Master/Slave) parallel output function. While model 61601/61602/61603/61604/61605 does not provide this function, model 61607/61608/61609 is able to connect up to 2 units of the same model series (61507/61508/61509/61607/61608/61609) in parallel configuration. In addition, in order to meet greater power requirements, 6kVA models like 61509 and 61609 can further reach 3 to 5 units (Master/Slave) in parallel, and these two models can be mixed and matched. Achieve high power output functions such as 18kVA, 24kVA, 30kVA. (3kVA and 4.5kVA models do not support 3~5 units paralleled function)
For even higher power, model 61611/61612 is able to parallel up to 5 AC sources of the same model series (61511/61512/61611/61612) either together or with Chroma 18kVA power stage units (A615103). For example: connection of two 61611 12kVA units will achieve total output power of 24kVA; or connecting one 61612 18kVA with two A615103 18kVA units will achieve total output power of 54kVA.

Softpanel
Chroma's Softpanel is a graphical user interface that provides extraordinary capabilities and convenience by delivering control of the unit remotely. The 61600 series Softpanel is designed to offer users control of the AC source by applying user friendly graphical interfaces configured in instrument like settings.

This interface also provides Auto Run function with 100 sets voltage / frequency change for multiple loop tests (time scale by seconds). It can also adjust settings like Loop and Count for repeated long-term testing.

Another useful function is the Report Generator that automatically records user selected parameters, sampling rates and recording times.
